What It's Like to Work With MeI'm not here to analyze you, label you, or fix you.
I'm here to sit with you. To listen deeply. To help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that went quiet just to survive—the parts that learned to adapt, endure, and hold it together, often at great cost.
My coaching is present-focused, trauma-informed, and grounded in real life. We won't spend all our time reliving the past or cataloging every painful detail. Instead, we pay attention to what's happening now—in your body, your nervous system, your emotions, your relationships.
Together, we explore how grief, trauma, loss, or addiction may still be shaping how you show up today. And we gently build new ways of responding that feel safer, steadier, and more aligned with who you're becoming.
You set the pace.
You choose the focus.
I bring the tools, the training, and a steady, compassionate presence.
Clients often tell me they feel safe enough to be fully themselves in our sessions—sometimes for the first time. You don't have to explain or justify your pain to be taken seriously here. You don't need to "prove" that what you went through was bad enough. We work with what's present, right now, and build forward from there.
This work is rooted in your values, your capacity, and your vision for your life—not someone else's timeline or expectations.

I'm Marissa JaneI didn't set out to become a grief and trauma-informed coach.
Like many people who do this work, it found me.
I'm a trauma survivor. I've lived with complex grief, nervous system overwhelm, and the long, non-linear process of healing from experiences that changed me at my core. I know what it's like to feel emotionally flooded one moment and completely shut down the next. I know what it's like to carry grief that doesn't fit neatly into a box—and to exist in a world that expects you to "move on" far too quickly.
For a long time, I searched for answers. I needed to understand why my body reacted the way it did. Why certain losses stayed with me. Why willpower alone was never enough.
What I needed wasn't more advice or positivity.
I needed safety. I needed language. I needed someone who could sit with the complexity without trying to rush me through it.
What I found—through my own healing journey—was trauma-informed coaching.
For the first time, I felt seen as a whole person, not a diagnosis or a problem to solve. I learned how to work with my nervous system instead of fighting it. How to honor grief without being consumed by it. How to rebuild trust in myself, slowly and on my own terms.
That experience changed everything.
Today, I offer others what I once needed so desperately: grounded, compassionate, trauma-aware support that respects your autonomy and meets you where you are. My approach draws from polyvagal theory, positive psychology, mindfulness, somatic awareness, NLP, and solution-focused coaching—but it's always filtered through a human lens.
This isn't just a profession for me.
It's personal. It's lived. It's a calling.
I know what it means to survive.
And I know how powerful it is to begin living again.

The Space I OfferI offer a space that is safe, inclusive, and real.
A space where:
Your grief isn't minimized
Your trauma isn't pathologized
Your emotions aren't "too much"
Your desire to heal is met with tools—not judgmentYou don't need to have the right words.
You don't need to tell your whole story.
You just need to want something different.
When you're ready, we'll walk forward together.

Important NoticeTrauma-informed coaching is not therapy, crisis care, or a substitute for medical or mental health treatment. The services I provide are designed to support personal growth, nervous system regulation, and present-focused goals.
While coaching may complement therapy, it does not diagnose, treat, or cure mental health conditions. It does not provide clinical assessment or emergency support. If you're experiencing a mental health crisis or thoughts of harm to yourself or others, please seek immediate help from a licensed mental health professional, contact emergency services, or reach out to a crisis resource in your area.
By engaging with this website or my coaching services, you acknowledge the distinction between coaching and therapy and accept responsibility for your own mental and emotional wellbeing.
